Plea for Democrats to unite seems fruitless

To the editor:

Ron Wagganer’s plea for Democrats to unite — the Call issue of July 17 — appears fruitless at this time.

The Catholic Bishops, and in fact the Pope himself, have told Catholics that they can’t be Democrats and Catholic at the same time.

This has to be a big loss for the Dem-ocrats, especially when you add all the other Christian voters who believe the same about late-term abortions, including partial-birth abortions, where a child is killed shortly before, during or shortly after birth.

As long as the Democratic Party continues to endorse unnatural families, pornography for children as a freedom of speech issue, consider perjury as acceptable even by government officials and is determined to appoint judges who rule that the Declaration of Independence is unconstitutional, I don’t think there will be a resurgence of the Democratic Party.

After all, on that last point, if God didn’t give us our inalienable rights, the claim will be made that some humans such as the government did and those that did give them can take them away.

Such happens in all dictatorships — witness Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union.

It appears the party is beyond saving as long as it continues to drive away its former base by pandering to the party extremists of all sorts.
