The second floor of the aquarium gives visitors the opportunity to get their hands wet with touch tanks and interactive exhibits. That experience will be temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station will open on Christmas. Special Christmas Day hours will be from noon until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Timed admission tickets went on sale last week, temporarily crashing the aquarium website www.stlouisaquarium.com.

As construction continued this year, owners of the new aquarium had promised that the centerpiece of the new $187 million family entertainment complex at Union Station would be open by the end of this year. The St. Louis Wheel opened at the site in October.

The new aquarium is in the location of the former mall at Union Station and is joined to the Union Station hotel at 201 S. 18th St.

General admission tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for children ages 3 to 13. Children under 3 are free. Tickets will allow access to all of the aquarium’s galleries, exhibits and interactive experiences. The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station will offer timed ticketing that will allow guests to avoid waiting in line. A limited number of same-day passes also will be available for purchase every day on site.
