Mehlville School District’s plan for a new central office was recommended for approval by the St. Louis County Planning Commission March 14.
The new location is four acres at 2900 Lemay Ferry Road, near Mehlville High School. The building is 49,660-square-feet and is two stories tall. Exterior changes are minor and include an overhead door, a new rear entrance and a backup generator in case power goes out.
Employees will transfer over from the current building at 3200 Lemay Ferry Road, and that building will possibly be used for more high school classrooms.
“The school district can certainly use the space, the current central office is really a congested building,” Commission Chair Wayne Hilzinger said.
The commission is requiring the district to improve the on-site bus stop to be Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible and to maintain the existing landscape buffer yard.
