Only one contested race in municipalities

With one exception, incumbents seeking re-election in the cities of Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills are unopposed in next week’s election.

Aldermanic seats are up for election Tuesday, April 8, in the cities of Crest-wood, Green Park and Sunset Hills.

Also up for election is the Green Park mayoral post currently held by Steve Armstrong, who is unopposed for a second, two-year term.

In Crestwood, up for election are seats held by Ward 1 Alderman Richard LaBore, Ward 2 Alderman Tim Trueblood, Ward 3 Alderman Don Maddox and Ward 4 Alder-man Tom Fagan. LaBore, Maddox and Fa-gan are unopposed in their re-election bids. Each seat carries a three-year term.

In Ward 2, Trueblood is being challenged by Jeffrey Schlink, 1228 Capri Drive.

Schlink unsuccessfully opposed Ward 2 Alderman Gary Vincent in April 2001.

In addition, Crestwood voters will elect a second alderman to represent Ward 3 to fill the term that expires in April 2004.

That seat previously was held by Jim Robertson, who was elected mayor last April, and currently is held by Bernadine “Bernie” Alexander, who was appointed by the mayor and board.

Alexander is unopposed in her bid for the seat.

Besides the Green Park mayoral post, seats held by Ward 1 Alderman Judy DeWitt, Ward 2 Alderman Chuck Deters and Ward 3 Alderman Mark Hayden are up for election.

All three incumbents are unopposed in their re-election bids. Each seat carries a two-year term.

In Sunset Hills, seats held by Ward 1 Al-derman Michael Sawicki, Ward 2 Alder-man John Littlefield, Ward 3 Alderman Jan Hoffmann and Ward 4 Alderman Donald Parker are up for election.

All four incumbents are unopposed in their re-election bids. Each seat carries a two-year term.
