A November letter to the editor, submitted by John Hunzeker, was recently questioned as a public vote on gerrymandering was mentioned. It was clarified that he was referring to Amendment 1, known as “Clean Missouri,” which Missouri voters passed by 62% in 2018. The amendment, in short, changed the model for drawing districts to prevent partisan gerrymandering. In 2020, “Clean Missouri” was overturned with the narrow passage (51%) of Amendment 3.
There has been no public vote on gerrymandering/redistricting since. The Call apologizes if this caused any confusion.
