LHS girls tennis coach, Chloe McIsaac, said training has focused on mental toughness so players excel at not only tennis but being “great” student athletes.

Chloe McIsaac is always ready for a good challenge.

The first-year head coach for the Lindbergh girl’s tennis team was a three-time conference Player of the Year at Belleville East High School, and also played at the University of Southern Indiana. With those kind of experiences in her back pocket, she’s looking forward to taking the Flyers to the next level.

“Whenever you come in as a new coach, you never know exactly what you’re walking into,” McIsaac said. “Right now, we’re doing a lot of mental toughness training and not only does that make them into a good player, but it also makes them a great student athlete.”

Seniors Piper Jaques and Mollie Keating return for the 2023 season as co-captains. “Piper has a great, calming presence on the team and she provides that wisdom and maturity level by leading by example,” McIsaac said. “Mollie works a lot with the junior varsity team and it’s nice to have someone with her maturity out there helping the younger members of the team.”

Juniors Kate Davidson and Belle Daniels return this season after qualifying for last year’s state championships.

“Kate can see the strategy on the court so well and having that next level of thinking on the court is an awesome tool to have,” McIsaac said. “Belle on the other hand is just a grinder who’s never going to have someone out play her. As a former player myself, that can be very frustrating to play against.”

Lindbergh’s head coach is also looking to see big things from junior Olivia Matejcic and Helen Froidl.

“I’m expecting to see big things from Helen and Olivia this year.” McIsaac said. “I’m excited to work with both of them these next few years.”
