Kaitlin Kuenker is the new Mehlville girls volleyball head coach, and the team is looking to start a new chapter in its history.

With several returning starters and a new head coach in Kaitlin Kuenker, the Mehlville Panthers are looking to start a new chapter in girls volleyball history.

“So far, things are going really good,” Kuenker said. “We’re gearing up for the season and we have a lot of strong freshmen as well as underclassmen on the team this year.”

Senior setter Jenna O’Shea returns to the Panther’s starting lineup this season and has been “nothing short of impressive.”

“Jenna has been shining so far this season,” Kuenker said. “She hits the ball really well, but she also has really steady hands.”

At middle hitter for Mehlville this season is senior Medina Haliovic.

“Medina’s got some height on her which is very handy,” Kuenker said. “She’s one of my strongest hitters and she knows what she’s doing out there on the court.”

Senior Eva Lopez will see action at outside hitter this season.

“Eva is a very strong hitter,” Kuenker said. “She’s a very passionate player that’s very good at blocking. She’s always ready to go.”

Complementing Lopez at the opposite outside hitter position this season is sophomore Audrey Bailey.

“Audrey can play like no other,” Keunker said. “She just doesn’t miss a beat and is spot on at every hit.”

The Panthers open up the 2022 regular season at Ladue Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
