The Mehlville School District welcomed one of the largest crowds in recent years for its annual 60plus Barbecue at Bernard Middle School.
More than 250 60plus members attended the April 18 event, which included performances by the Bernard Middle School choir, strings and band students, according to a district news release.
After the musical entertainment, Bernard Student Council and National Junior Hon-or Society members served guests a lunch complete with hamburgers barbecued by the South County Kiwanis Club.
The Kiwanis Club also presented scholarships to Mehlville High School senior Alex Riddle and Oakville High School senior Katie Bayer.
The 60plus Barbecue is one of several events hosted by the Mehlville School Dis-trict for its 60plus Club members each year.
Mehlville residents 60 years old or older can obtain a 60plus Gold Card by calling the district’s Communications Department at (314) 467-5153.
The 60plus Gold Card provides residents with access to Mehlville School District home sporting events, musical and theater performances, along with 60plus events each year at no cost.
