The first day of school for K-12 students in Lindbergh Schools will now fall on Thursday, Aug. 27, following a Board of Education vote Tuesday night to move back the start of school three days from its originally scheduled start date of Aug. 24. Students in grades K-3 will start the school year in classrooms under the district’s Green Light Plan, and students in grades 4-12 will start school virtually.
This adjustment will “ensure a strong start to the school year,” the district said, by providing additional professional-learning time for teachers. It will also give families more time to be introduced to the virtual platforms that will be used this year and time to distribute devices to students. The K-3 students will receive one day of in-person instruction during the first week of school. During this time, teachers can provide support and onboarding in advance of remote learning days.
The board reviewed the district’s first semester calendar during its Aug. 11 meeting, and approved the changes listed below. These changes will support preparations for the start of school and ensure equity for students in grades K-3 who are participating in the hybrid learning model mixing in-person and virtual learning, which the district classifies as “Phase 2” of the Green Light Plan.
