Letter writer suggests changing name of the Call to the ‘Oakville Deal’

It’s time to change the name of the Oakville Call to the Oakville Deal. Whenever Tom Diehl has something to tout, he steps onto the Oakville Call’s pulpit “Another View.”

Last week, he characterized the elfish shenanigans designed to ruin Oakville and then elicit money for his cause all in two paragraphs.

I, for one, am tired of reading about Tom’s crusade against his black knight — Fred Weber. It’s becoming the “Never Ending Story” where I expect to see Captain Tom on top of his flying dog protecting all of us Oakvillians from Fred Weber Inc.’s proposal to construct a trash-transfer station on Baumgartner Road.

We will by no means be taken in by the raucous political rhetoric being thrown out each week by Captain Tom or one of his white knights as they rail on the county executive or spout Jeffersonian tenets on freedom and principles of trash democracy.

Let’s face the fact that folks, we are talking rubbish. Yes, you can make a choice of what color truck you want to stop in front of your house, but the service is the same — a full can of garbage in the morning and an empty can at night.
