Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

Please join me, “Grandpa Steve” Ippolito, in voting yes for Proposition R for Lindbergh Schools on April 2.

I am an active grandparent of two Lindbergh elementary students, and as a volunteer in their school I see every day how quality education is so very important to them, and to their fellow Lindbergh students.

Our Lindbergh Schools are special places; when you have the opportunity to go inside one of our schools, they come alive. When you stand with these dedicated people who educate our children, they make you proud to be a supporting member of this special community Lindbergh calls home. All those who vote and live within the district’s boundaries should be excited about what you have helped create and maintain.

As a homeowner in the Lindbergh School District since 1970, I have seen firsthand how responsible Lindbergh has been with our educational resources. Because the Board of Education understands that they need to demonstrate this responsibility day in and day out, the proposed design for the new high school uses as many of the existing buildings and facilities as possible. Lindbergh Schools has shown me that you don’t need unlimited resources to have a high-performing school district, you just need to use those resources wisely.

We owe it to ourselves to provide students and quality staff safe learning environments. By making this investment, we can provide future generations of Lindbergh students the educational facilities they need to thrive after graduation. Prop R is an investment in our future.

Again, please vote Yes on Prop R April 2, 2019. If you prefer to vote earlier, take advantage of the absentee ballot option.

If you have any questions for me, I am at Concord School Road every morning at 8:20 and afternoon at 2:30 as your Concord and Sperreng crossing guard, helping children get to and from school safely.
