Crestwood Legion downs Brentwood

Behind a one-hit performance from starting pitcher Tim Eikmeier, the Crestwood American Legion baseball team hammered out a 9-0 win Saturday night over Brentwood.

Crestwood (11-6, 7-2 District 10 South) generated nine runs on 15 hits while Eikmeier walked three batters and struck out five to earn his third win of the season.

Eikmeier is currently 3-0 overall with a 4.55 earned run average.

“Tim threw a great game for us,” Crestwood head coach Sean Erwin told the Call. “He got ahead of the count and kept the ball down and let the defense do the rest of the work.”

Brentwood committed no errors, which was contrary to the lopsided loss.

“Brentwood’s got a really good pitching staff, but we put the ball in play and got some extra-base hits,” Erwin said. “They have a young team that within a year or two, they’re going to be solid.”

Crestwood’s Robby Meeh had a productive afternoon at the plate with a four-hit performance that included two runs scored, three runs driven in and one stolen base.

“Robby had a great game at the plate for us and he’s a guy that’s been really hot for us in the past couple of games,” Erwin said. “He’s definitely seeing the ball really well.”

Crestwood travels Friday night to Thoman Boothe (1-12), which is currently coming off a 10-game losing streak.

The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
