Charges were issued last week against two suspects for the triple shooting at an apartment complex in Oakville that resulted in the death of two teenagers.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office issued charges on Feb. 6 against Tyler Coleman, 19, of the 7200 block of Becker Road, 63129, and Zachary Hough, 18, of the 4200 block of Massabielle Drive, 63129. Coleman and Hough are each facing two charges of second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and delivery of 35 grams or less of marijuana.

The shooting happened around 1:50 p.m. Feb. 5, when police received a call for service for a shooting at an apartment complex in Oakville. Police said the victims – 15-year-old Colin Courtwright of the 1000 block of Watchel Avenue, 63125, and 16-year-old Tyree Williams, of the 700 block of Erskine Avenue, 63125 – tried to purchase a marijuana cartridge off Coleman and Hough.

According to the probable cause statement, one of the victims got into the defendant’s car while in the 2800 block of Innsbrook, and requested to see the cartridge. During the drug deal, both victims were shot and killed.

Courtwright was found dead in the Black Forest Apartments parking lot, while Williams died while en route to the hospital for his shooting injuries. A third person was also taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries, but police have not disclosed any further information.

Both Coleman and Hough played football for Oakville High School. They are being held on $500,000 cash-only, no-10% bonds.

Courtwright and Williams had attended the Hancock Place School District.

“We are stunned and saddened by this senseless tragedy,” the district posted on Facebook.
