At graduation, a parent thanks Mehlville School District for education

Letters+to+the+editor

To the editor:

May 2019 marked the 40th year of our graduation from Oakville High School; my husband, Tim, and I graduated in 1979. May 2019 also commemorated the celebration of our youngest of four children graduating from Oakville High.

Twenty-one years in the Mehlville School District (1998-2019) for our children has brought forth enriching opportunities for a solid-based education from which to build and progress forward to college and a rewarding future. We are appreciative.

Mehlville has provided numerous avenues of educational gain and enrichment. The education is available to all students with dedication. Mehlville School District has many dedicated teachers who often go unrecognized within the system, but are tremendously valued by their students and those parents.

To those teachers, I say “thank you” for your dedication and time to educating our children and helping us provide a solid base upon which character and education has been strengthened; you are valued and respected.

To those still “traveling” through the district, I encourage you to seek and advocate for your child and their educational needs. Your efforts will be recognized within your child’s education. The opportunities are endless. Get involved in your child’s education and school. Know your child’s teachers. Attend conferences, even if your child is doing well. Follow their grades and ask them about their school day.

Again, thank you, Mehlville; it’s been a great experience.
