Police are still searching for a suspect who escaped in Sunset Hills after a shooting and carjacking at Gravois Bluffs in Fenton.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Fenton Precinct got a call about shots fired at 698 Gravois Bluffs Blvd. around 3:48 a.m. Monday.

Police said that the shooting was not random. It started when the suspect and the victims  “contacted” one another in front of the business at that address, a Phillips 66 gas station. The shooting happened soon after they went behind the gas station.

Two victims with gunshot wounds were taken to a local hospital, police said.

The suspect fled the scene in car he stole from one of the victims, a white Nissan sedan. A second suspect also fled in a dark-colored car that the suspect had arrived in.

About 10 minutes later, the white Nissan was found near the intersection of Highway 30 and West Watson Road in Sunset Hills. The suspect escaped by foot into Minnie Ha Ha Park at 801 Old Gravois Road.

Assisted by the Sunset Hills Police Department, Kirkwood Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, police set up a perimeter around the park, but could not find the suspect.

They believe he got away before the perimeter was set up.

The suspect is described as a black male with long dreadlocks, who was wearing a maroon shirt at the time of the shooting.

A description of the second suspect is not available.

The county department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating.
