Mabel & Mary’s Dressing
¾ cup butter
½ cup chopped celery
½ cup diced onion
7 cups dry bread cubes
1 teaspoon teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¾ cup chicken stock
Preheat the oven to 350.
In a skillet, melt the butter. Add the celery and onion. Cook celery and onion in butter til tender, about 10 minutes.
Combine bread cubes, butter mixture and the remaining ingredients. Mix well and serve; or for a drier stuffing, bake in a sprayed 8×8 dish for 15-20 minutes in a 350-degree oven.
You can use bread cubes from the store or make your own by slicing bread into cubes and letting them dry on a pan for a couple days; turning them a few times a day.
