St. Louis County Council
Sixth District – Republican
In the race for the St. Louis County Council 6th District, both candidates, incumbent Ernie Trakas and challenger Mike Archer, present strong cases for representing the community. While they share similarities in their dedication and legal expertise, Trakas’s extensive experience and past advocacy give him a slight edge.
Trakas has been a consistent advocate for the 6th District, advocating for more funding and economic development for the 6th District. He has also been vocal against unpopular developments and has facilitated open dialogue between residents and developers. His willingness to work across party lines, as needed despite criticism, shows his commitment to practical governance over partisan politics. His track record of standing up for his constituents, particularly in zoning matters, demonstrates his dedication to the community.
However, Archer also brings an impressive background as a private-practice attorney and former assistant prosecuting attorney. His commitment to meeting with the community during campaigning suggests he could be a capable representative. His concerns about Trakas’s support for County Executive Sam Page also highlight his independent stance, which many voters might find appealing. Archer’s potential to continue Trakas’s legacy, combined with his fresh perspective, makes him a strong candidate.
Ultimately, while both candidates offer valuable qualities, Trakas’s proven track record of advocacy make him our choice. His experience and dedication to South County’s best interests warrant his reelection. The Call endorses Trakas.
Missouri House of Representatives
92nd District – Republican
Kenneth Abram and Cijo Mathews are running in the Republican primary for the 92nd House District, a seat currently held by Michael Burton, D-Lakeshire. Mathews did not return The Call’s questionnaire, so he is ineligible for endorsement. The nod goes to Abram in this race. He has run for office before and his continued desire to represent the South County community in Jefferson City earns our endorsement.
