VA conducts groundbreaking for Jefferson Barracks expansion

The Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System recently conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for a multi-year, multi-million dollar construction project at its Jefferson Barracks Division. The campus is undergoing a major renovation that will provide five new state-of-the-art buildings, including a new clinic building, pictured, a medical rehab/recreation facility, energy plant, warehouse and tenant buildings, according to a news release. The $366 million project also will demolish 14 buildings and hand the land over to the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for its expansion needs. The planning for this expansion has been ongoing for several years, but the benefactors of this project will be St. Louis veterans for years to come, the release stated.
