Students qualify for national competitions

South Tech Skills USA students Paris Anderson, left, and Julie Robertson recently participated in the annual SkillsUSA State Competitions in Linn, along with 27 other South Tech SkillsUSA members. While attending this competition, Paris, a 10th-grader, was elected to a position on the Missouri SkillsUSA State Officers’ Team by delegates of this organization’s secondary students from across the state. To go before the delegates, she had to pass a written test covering SkillsUSA facts and procedures, as well as sit through an interview process with the SkillsUSA state officer adviser. Julie, an 11th-grader, participated in the cosmetology competition, competing with other SkillsUSA cosmetology students from across the state. While this was her first time competing statewide, Julie took first-place honors after successfully demonstrating many different skills related to cosmetology. Both will represent South Tech SkillsUSA at national competitions in June in Kansas City.
