St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church welcomes new pastor

St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church of Sunset Hills invites the community to join the congregation in welcoming Pastor Jill V. Seagle.

Seagle began her pastoral duties on Memorial Day weekend at the church, 3980 S. Lindbergh Blvd., according to a news release.

Seagle graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bridgewater College in Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in philosophy and religion. From college, she proceeded to the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and graduated in 2003.

While at Gettysburg, she met her husband, Douglas, who is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, and has been called to serve Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Ill. Their son, Wyatt, is 7 years old, and daughter, Morgan, is 5 years old. The family has relocated to this area from Watsontown, Pa.

Jill Seagle stated in the release, “Each and every one of us has been given gifts of the Spirit to share with the Body of Christ and the world. As we get to know each other, sharing in the life of the church and in the life of our greater community, my hope is that more and more we will learn how to use our gifts to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

“My hope is that we will see where we can serve among those who need our hands and hearts.”

St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The church was a principal organizer of “Sunset Hills Sings” in early 2011 to raise funds for those impacted by the New Year’s Eve tornado of 2010.
