To the editor:

It is well known that plastic cannot be easily recycled and that it does not decompose. Plastic items that end up in landfill will be there forever. We are leaving a legacy of plastic waste to future generations.

Despite these fact we still have companies mailing out plastic cards as an advertising gimmick. There’s one media company in particular that mails out a 4 by 5 and a half inch plastic card on a regular basis.

This last time they have done it, I cut the card in two to fit in the envelope and mailed it back to them asking them to please stop this practice.

Saving the planet should be our no. 1 priority.
