Update: On Tuesday, St. Louis County Police positively identified Paul Eckhoff, 59, and Colin Eckhoff, 10, of Fenton, as the victims in the accident Monday. They are father and son.

St. Louis County Police are investigating an auto accident that left two people dead after striking an apartment building in Affton Monday.

Officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct received a call for service around 7:54 a.m. June 28 for an auto accident with injuries in the 9600 block of Bent Pine Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located a single vehicle with two male occupants – a man believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s and a passenger believed to be in his early teens.

According to police, the man was driving a Nissan Xterra on northbound Gravios Road when it left the roadway and struck the apartment building before coming to rest.

Several area fire districts responded to the scene, led by the Mehlville Fire Protection District.

An inspection will determine if the apartment building is sound.

The accident remains under investigation by the Affton Southwest Precinct and Crime Scene Unit.
