Oakville High earns School of the Year Award

Not only is Oakville Senior High School regarded as one of the best local high schools, it now has the distinction of being named School of the Year by the EF Foundation for Foreign Study, according to a Mehlville School District news release.

Toni Bilicki of the EF Foundation for Foreign Study recently presented Oakville Senior High School Principal Eric Knost with a plaque to proudly hang on the school’s wall.

Oakville High was chosen as a 2003-2004 recipient of the award based on its efforts to foster cultural awareness by promoting foreign exchange at the high school.

Oakville was nominated by a local coordinator and/or regional manager in Boston based on the commitment and support the school provided to EF Foundation exchange students, according to the news release.

In making the announcement, Juliana Wilkinson, EF Foundation school relations manager, praised Oakville’s students and staff for truly making a contribution to the global understanding and peace.

Nationwide, more than 2,000 schools are eligible to receive the award.

Oakville Senior High School is one of only 45 in the United States to earn the School of the Year recognition from the EF Foundation for Foreign Study, the release stated.
