Mercy Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, part of Lifepoint Health, announced a joint venture agreement for the new $37 million Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South Nov. 28.
The new rehabilitation facility will be part of the Mercy South campus, 10010 Kennerly Road, and is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
Lifepoint will manage the day-to-day operation of the standalone, two-story, 50-bed acute rehabilitation center. It will provide care for adults recovering from neurological disease, injuries to the brain or spinal cord, and other debilitating illnesses or injuries.
There will be two units in the hospital — one specifically for brain injury and stroke patients, and the other to serve general acute rehabilitation needs.
“We want to meet the needs of our community, which let us know they need improved access to acute rehab care,” stated Sean Hogan, president of Mercy Hospital South, in a press release. “Not only will we now be able to care for more patients, every patient will have a private room.”
