Mehlville School District administrators and Board of Education members will sponsor a question-and-answer session regarding the proposed new Margaret Buerkle Middle School at 6 p.m. today — Oct. 28 — at the existing Buerkle, 623 Buckley Road.
Community members are urged to attend to have their questions answered, according to a district news release.
A new Buerkle Middle School is among the roughly $94 million in capital improvement projects outlined in the first phase of Mehlville’s COMPASS II plan — Charting the Oakville-Mehlville Path to Advance Successful Schools.
The first phase of COMPASS II, containing roughly $106 million in proposals, would be implemented upon passage of Proposition C, an 88-cent tax-rate increase measure on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The new middle school would be constructed on the campus of Mehlville Senior High School, requiring the transportation garage to move to the St. John’s location.
Should voters approve Prop C next week, construction immediately would begin on the new Margaret Buerkle Middle School, with an anticipated opening date for the 2012-2013 school year, according to district officials.
