New: Couple found dead at Motel 6

Police are investigating the death of a St. Louis city couple in a south county motel room.

A 47-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, believed to be husband and wife, were found dead Monday afternoon in their room at the Motel 6 at 6500 S. Lindbergh Blvd., according to St. Louis County police.

Police were called to the motel shortly after noon Monday after an employee peered into the couple’s room and reported seeing two bodies and blood. The room was supposed to be vacant as the posted checkout time had passed, police said.

Authorities believe the man and woman were shot in the room.

Motel records show the couple had been staying there for days and did not register a vehicle with the front desk. Police believe the couple was dropped off and was scheduled to leave Monday.

An official cause of death and motive are still under investigation, but police believe the incident was isolated and restricted to the room and the couple.

The couple remains unidentified as police attempt to contact the victims’ families.
