New chief financial officer named by Mehlville board

Mehlville board names Kern principal at Buerkle Middle

Mehlville School District officials announced their replacement for retiring Chief Financial Officer Noel Knobloch during a Board of Education meeting last week.

Superintendent Eric Knost said the Board of Education voted to name Marshall Crutcher to serve as CFO, effective July 1.

“(Crutcher) comes with a lot of corporate experience, a lot of very relevant experience, wonderful references and just did very, very well in the very lengthy process …,” Knost said at the April 25 meeting. “We are thrilled that we’re in a really good position with Marshall bringing just significant relevant experience to the plate, and we’re thrilled that we still have Noel here to help indoctrinate Marshall.”

During a closed session before the open meeting, board member Larry Felton made a motion to approve a one-year contract for Crutcher with a salary of $115,000. Board member Rich Franz seconded the motion.

Knost also announced that Jim Kern, currently assistant principal at Oakville Senior High, will be the new Margaret Buerkle Middle School principal, effective July 1.

Board member Ron Fedorchak made a motion to extend a one-year contract to Kern with a salary of $101,500. Felton seconded the motion.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the following items:

• Requisition No. 13 totaling $348,268.45 for construction of the district’s auditorium on the Mehlville Senior High School campus.

Of the $348,268.45, $344,232 goes to the project’s contractor, Wright Construction Services, and the remaining $4,036.45 was paid to the district’s architect, Dickinson Hussman Architects.

• Selection of Daniel Jones & Associates to perform the district’s 2012-2013 audit at a cost of $11,725 “and with favorable reviews, perform the next two year audits …”

Daniel Jones & Associates is the district’s current auditor and submitted the lowest of four bids.

• Spencer Contracting’s bid of $156,514, including contingency, for asphalt maintenance work.

Spencer Contracting’s bid was the lowest of five submitted for the work.
