All South County schools call off due to expected storm Monday

All South County schoolchildren will get a snow day Monday, with districts already calling off classes in advance of a pending winter storm expected to continue Monday.

Mehlville, Lindbergh, Affton, Bayless, Hancock school districts and the Special School District are all closing due to snowfall and anticipated ice.

The Mehlville School District has called off school for the second time this year, making the last day of classes now set for May 22, 2020. All after-school activities and events are also cancelled, Mehlville officials said.

Lindbergh Schools is also calling off school and all events, including before- and after-school activities, Flyers Club before and after care, Lindbergh Early Childhood Education and Lindbergh Community Ed. District offices will also be closed.

The Affton School District is canceling classes and Cougar Care, the district announced, adding, “Enjoy your #AfftonSnowDay!” The day will be made up Thursday, May 28.

Bayless is calling off school, announcing, “The weather conditions present potential travel safety concerns for our students and staff.”

All school-related activities at Bayless will be canceled, including practices, games and meetings.

Hancock Place School District will also not be open Monday.

Special School District, or SSD, said all its sites, programs and classes will be closed Monday due to the weather. SSD’s Central Office, Learning Center and Distribution Center will also be closed.
