The Mehlville Board of Education will hold a public hearing Thursday to set the district’s tax rates for 2024.
The public hearing will be held at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the Mehlville High School Library, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road.
Board members will consider the following proposed tax rates per $100 of assessed valuation, which include both the permanent tax rate and the temporary Proposition A tax.
• Residential: $3.7914
• Commercial: $4.2175
• Agricultural: $4.7160
• Personal property: $4.8161
The district’s proposed overall blended rate is $4.0070, a slight increase from last year’s blended rate of $3.9361. The blended rate is not levied but is used to compare the district to others in the state. Tax rates include a 3.26-cent component from Prop A, which will sunset after 2025.
As 2024 is a non-reassessment year, changes to the tax rates have been minimal. Residential assessed values increased slightly due to new construction, while personal property saw a decrease.
The district’s total tax revenue for 2024 is estimated to be approximately $100.8 million, down from previous projections due to declines in assessed values.
