The Mehlville Fire Protection District continued its longstanding record of financial transparency as it was recently awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2020 statements.
The award is given by the Government Finance Officers Association after an audit of the district’s financial statements. At the May 11 Board of Directors meeting, Chief Financial Officer Brian Bond said the district has received the certificate every year since 1996, making this the 26th year in a row the district has been recognized.
“This allows the taxpayers to have confidence that we’re being transparent and abiding by all accounting principles,” Bond said.
