The Mehlville School District’s swimming pool reopened this week after being closed for a \$120,000 renovation project.

Work has been completed on a $120,000 renovation project at the Mehlville School District’s swimming pool.

The pool at Mehlville Senior High School reopened for Community Enrichment classes today — July 1 — after being closed for a month during the renovation efforts, according to a district news release.

Improvements include a new surface on the pool deck, which will reduce the chance of people slipping while also extending the life of the structure, according to the release.

Broken tiles on the edge of the pool were replaced, and the interior walls of the building were painted bright white with murals being added to further enhance the look of the pool.

The most extensive part of the renovation was the replacement of the swimming pool restrooms, which also are used by spectators at the nearby football and baseball fields.

The restrooms were completely gutted and rebuilt with new stalls, showers and porcelain fixtures, the release stated. The women’s restroom also received two additional toilets, and each restroom now has much easier access for people using wheelchairs and walkers.

Mehlville’s swimming pool was built in 1972.
