The Crestwood Police Department has charged Charles King, 42, for burglary, stealing and property damage that took place in November 2022. Charges are merely an accusation. King is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Officers responded to a report on Nov. 26, 2022, at 9274 Watson Road that unknown individuals had stolen equipment and cut out piping overnight. At that time, the location was the home of a newly vacant ALDI; the grocery store chain had recently relocated to a larger location in Crestwood, and ALDI was in the process of removing its equipment from its former site.
The responding officers observed that entry into the building had been made by cutting a hole in the roof; they noticed a flashlight near the opening. Surveillance footage showed two male subjects outside of the business on the night when the burglary occurred — they were later identified as Timothy Macrum and King. A red Chevrolet truck was also seen at the scene. Witnesses stated that Macrum had been working with an individual earlier that day, who had been hired to remove scrap metal.
The following day, an officer from the Sunset Hills Police Department stopped the red Chevrolet truck, which was occupied by Macrum and King. DNA belonging to King was identified on the flashlight, found at the scene of the crime.
The value of the items taken from the building exceeded $4,000, and the damage caused exceeded $1,000.
