Long Elementary marks 50th anniversary

The Long Elementary School community had two reasons to celebrate last week — a groundbreaking for a new addition and the 50th anniversary of the school. Above, Long pupils hoist signs commemorating every decade since the school opened. On hand at Friday’s gala were Lindbergh Schools administrators, Long teachers and pupils, plus former pupils from the very first class to attend the school. Besides the groundbreaking at Long, Lindbergh officials conducted a groundbreaking for a new addition at Crestwood Elementary School. Both additions are being constructed as part of the district’s Proposition R 2008 bond issue.
