Lindbergh plans tribute to band director

Students, friends and colleagues of the late Bob Spiegelman are invited to attend a tribute to the Lindbergh High School band director’s life and legacy at 2 p.m. Satuday, May 28, at Concord Church, 13775 Tesson Ferry Road.

The “Bob Spiegelman: What a Wonderful Life – A Tribute to His Legacy” concert and tribute program will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and will be followed by a reception until 5 p.m.

Mr. Spiegelman died in March following a courageous battle with lymphoma.

“This event will be a tribute to Mr. Spiegelman’s life and legacy,” LHS Senior Adam Spirk stated in a news release. “We will honor him with an afternoon of spectacular music — performed by the Lindbergh High School Symphonic Band, a Director and Alumni Concert Band and the Lindbergh High School Spirit of Saint Louis Marching Band — some great speakers, each representing different times in his life and a video chronicling all that he did for us. Please join us to celebrate the achievements of our dear friend and mentor.”

Robert Spiegelman Endowment Fund

In addition, an endowment fund has been established in Mr. Spiegelman’s honor, to support the development of leadership and other life skills in students through their participation in LHS chool band programs. The Robert Spiegelman Endowment Fund will be administered by the Officers of Bandstanders, the parent-support organization for the band and a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Donations may be sent to: LHS Bandstanders, c/o Robert Spiegelman Endowment Fund, PO Box 29462, St. Louis, MO 63126. Please make checks payable to “Bandstanders.”

Smugala’s Pizza Donation

Also, on the weekend of the celebration — May 28 and 29 — Smugala’s Pizza will donate 20 percent of each purchase to the Robert Spiegelman Endowment Fund. Patrons should mention the Endowment Fund to their server.
