For the Call
Heading into the final week of the regular season 8-0 would have been the ideal scenario for the Lindbergh High School varsity football team, but the Flyers ran into a brick wall.
The Flyers suffered their first loss of the season last Friday at the hands of the No. 2-ranked Eureka Wildcats. Lindbergh was ranked No. 7 heading into the contest.
Both teams were undefeated, but the Flyers fell 41-10 to the Wildcats.
A field goal by Garret Butz and a 3-yard touchdown inside the red zone by George Buckingham was all the offense the Flyers could muster against the very stingy Eureka defense.
On the flip side, the Flyers’ defense was stunned by Eureka’s star running back Hassan Haskins as he scored four touchdowns in the game.
Lindbergh will face 3-5 Marquette on the road tonight to round out the regular season before an anticipated run in the postseason.
