Fourth- through eighth-grade Lindbergh Schools students who qualified as Academic All-Stars in the fall were honored Wednesday night by the Gateway Grizzlies baseball team at GSC Ballpark in Sauget, Ill.
About 600 students, parents and family members attended, with roughly 50 to 75 students running the bases before the start of the game. Students met mascot Izzy, participated in on-field challenges during the game and enjoyed a night of fun and friends, according to a district news release.
Superintendent Jim Simpson and Board of Education member Gary Ujka presented certificates to the Academic All-Stars.
