LHS seniors receive more than $200,000 worth of scholarships

Lindbergh High School seniors recently were awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships and received a number of academic achievement awards.

More than 40 scholarships were awarded in all, including 22 from the Lindbergh Schools Foundation that totaled $31,500.

Foundation scholarships are given in honor, or in memory of, former teachers, alumni, coaches, students and administrators.

Senior Emma Diestelkamp received a $180,000 scholarship from the U.S. Marine Corps’ Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, and 18 International Baccalaureate diploma candidates received gold stoles, according to a news release.

Each year, Lindbergh High School presents the Renaissance Man and Woman of the Year awards to the top two seniors who best exemplify scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship and community service.

This year’s recipients are Mackenzie Hempe and Kendall Helbert.

Both recipients are seven-semester Platinum Renaissance recipients.
