UPDATED: Interstate 255 reopens after fiery semi crash

Update: Traffic on Interstate 255 reopened around midday Saturday.

Traffic is still mostly blocked on eastbound/southbound Interstate 255 west of Telegraph Road after a semi turned over, hit the median and caught fire overnight.

As of 9 a.m. Saturday, only one lane was open for traffic to go through on the interstate, and the semi involved still had not been towed away. The Missouri Department of Transportation estimates the closure could end around 11:30 a.m.

A semi truck driven by Hargeet Singh, 25, of Stockton, Calif., overturned around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after hitting debris on the interstate, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, or MSHP.

The semi started to overturn after hitting the debris, and the left side of the 2016 Volvo conventional cab struck the median wall. The truck fully overturned and caught fire.

Singh was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center by an ambulance from the Mehlville Fire Protection District. He suffered minor injuries.

No other cars were involved in the crash.

The MSHP and the St. Louis County Police Department responded to the scene.
