Mehlville High School senior Cody Maiden and Oakville High School seniors Emily Goeke, Robin Niewoehner and Michael Wiethop have received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. for their outstanding academic successes.

“These four students should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments,” Superintendent Eric D. Knost stated in a district news release. “To score in the top five percent of their peers across the country is quite impressive, and I know these students’ academic careers will continue to flourish in the years to come.”

This year’s 34,000 National Merit Commended Students rank among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test in 2010. Although Commended Students will not continue in the 2012 competition to earn National Merit scholarships, they are recognized by the NMSC for their exceptional academic promise.
