Four Mehlville School District musicians earn all-state honors

Four Mehlville School District high school students have been honored at the state level for their outstanding musical talents.

After auditions against 1,000 students from across the state, Oakville High School sophomore Zachary Bearden was named to the All-State Orchestra, while OHS senior Devin Clark was selected for the All-State Choir. Mehlville High School senior Matt Dammrich and OHS senior Alex Mathews each earned an honorable mention in the All-State Band.

Clark will perform for the second year in a row with the All-State Choir Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Missouri Music Educators Association’s annual In-Service Workshop/Conference at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach. Bearden will play the trombone with the All-State Orchestra on Jan. 28 as well.

In the All-State Band, Dammrich received an honorable mention for his talents on the euphonium, while Mathews’ honorable mention was based on his audition with the alto saxophone.
