Former assistant superintendent files for Lindbergh Board of Education seat

A former Lindbergh School District assistant superintendent is among the candidates throwing their hats into the ring for the April 6 election.

Filing for next April’s school board and municipal elections began last week and will continue until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.

In the Lindbergh and Mehlville school districts, two seats on each Board of Education are up for election.

Aldermanic seats are up for election in the cities of Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills.

In Sunset Hills, the mayoral seat held by James Hobbs and the collector’s seat held by Thomas Fleer also are up for election April 6, and both incumbents have filed for re-election.

In the Lindbergh School District, Board of Education seats held by Robert Bader and Larry McIntosh are up for election. The seats carry three-year terms.

Filing last week were O. Victor Lenz and Bader, who first was elected to the board in 2001. Lenz, 4628 Bridlewood Terrace, 63128, retired June 30 as the school district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, capping a 39-year career in education that included 37 years of service in the Lindbergh School District.

In the Mehlville School District, Board of Education seats held by Rita Diekemper and Rich Huddleston are up for election. The seats carry three-year terms.

Filing last week were Diekemper, who first was elected to the board in 2001, and Tom Correnti, 2133 Telford Drive, 63125.

Correnti recently was appointed to the Proposition P Oversight Committee and now serves as vice chairman of the panel.

In Crestwood, aldermanic seats held by Richard Breeding of Ward 1, board President Gary Vincent of Ward 2, “Bernie” Alexander of Ward 3 and Pat Duwe of Ward 4 are up for election. The seats carry three-year terms.

Filing for re-election last week were Breeding, Alexander and Duwe. Filing for the Ward 2 aldermanic seat was Dan Himebaugh, 1130 Tahiti, 63126.

In Green Park, aldermanic seats held by Judy Betlach of Ward 1, Tony Konopka of Ward 2 and current board President Fred Baras of Ward 3 are up for election. The seats carry two-year terms.

Filing for re-election last week were Konopka and Baras. No one had filed for the Ward 1 seat at the Call’s press time.

Beside the mayoral and collector’s seats up for election in Sunset Hills, aldermanic seats held by Joe Rathert of Ward 1, John Smith of Ward 2, Robert Brockhaus of Ward 3 and A. Ron Kaemmerer of Ward 4 are up for election. All seats in Sunset Hills carry two-year terms.

Filing for re-election last week were Smith, Brockhaus and Kaemmerer. No one had filed for the Ward 1 seat at the Call’s press time.
