Flyerettes continue winning tradition

The Lindbergh High School Varsity Flyerettes have increased their winning streak to 12 consecutive years of placing in the top three at the National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Fla.

The Flyerettes also have increased their winning streak to 24 years of first-place trophies at the Missouri State Dance Team Championships.

The squad’s “Vegas” prop routine, complete with glittered casinos and slot machines, large poker chips, roulette wheels and playing cards, a wedding scene and Elvis, placed third at nationals and first at state.

The varsity squad’s high-energy pom routine also received the first-place trophy at the state competition.

In addition, the Flyerettes received the State Sweepstakes Champion Award for superior performances in prop, kick and pom.

Of the 18 pom squad members, 13 were honored as members of the Academic All-State Team. Those with 4.0 grade-point averages or better are: Danielle Hohmeier, Brittany Lincoln and Lindsay Link; 3.7 to 3.99 GPA, Jamie Eckhardt, Lesley Freeman, Courtney Freese, Jessie Keetch, Laura Park, Natalie Shoults and Kelly Weaver; and 3.5 to 3.69 GPA, Jessica Croghan, Angela Miller and Anne Schumer.

The Varsity Flyerettes are coached by Jamie Jordan and Gloria McBride.
