A Friendship Village security officer has been honored by the Fenton Fire Protection District for his quick response to a fire inside a resident’s apartment in December.

Brandon Soehngen, a security officer at Friendship Village, was recognized in a presentation Feb. 9 by Fenton Fire Marshal Chris Thiemann for extinguishing a fire in resident Gloria King’s apartment Dec. 12.

“We want to commend Brandon … for his extraordinary efforts … when he put a fire out that was in a resident’s room on a stovetop. … When Brandon got into the room, he grabbed the fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire,” said Thiemann. “We would like to give him this award on our behalf for that extraordinary effort and for helping that resident. … We just want to appreciate and honor you for the extraordinary activity that you did, so thank you.”
