The event, held on Sept. 11, was sponsored by Carry the Load, “a non-profit organization that exists to preserve the sanctity of Memorial Day through community gatherings and storytelling to unite Americans in appreciation for the sacrifices made by a few who carried the load for all.”
Despite the unseasonable heat, over 160 volunteers from across the area joined non-profit organization Carry The Load at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Sept. 11 to clean and beautify headstones.
