A new Bass Pro Shops is coming to Sunset Hills.
The Springfield-based outdoor retailer announced Tuesday that it would open its third location in the region in the vacant Toys “R” Us in Sunset Hills, 3600 Lindbergh Blvd. – part of the Shoppes at Sunset Hills shopping center.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to open a brand new store in our home state of Missouri,” said Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops founder, in a press release. “The St. Louis area is home to incredibly passionate sportsmen and women who love the outdoors as much as we do, and we’re excited to expand our ability to serve them.”
The 75,000 square-foot store is slated to open sometime later in the second half of next year and expects to employ more than 100 employees at the new location.
“Bass Pro Shops will greatly complement the surrounding retail and make this city a regional destination for years to come,” said Mark Kornfeld, managing director at Sansone Group in the release. Sansone Group is a commercial real estate group that is leading the project.
The shopping center itself was built in 1997 and consists of two parts: The 92,074-square-foot building that currently houses The Tile Shop and the former Toys “R” Us and an old Ross Dress for Less, in addition to a 5,500-square-foot outparcel occupied by a LongHorn Steakhouse.
Other Bass Pro Shops locations in the region include a store in St. Charles and a Cabela’s in Hazelwood.
