A gun store in Affton was robbed early Sunday morning, with dozens of guns stolen by at least 10 suspects.

An alarm went off at roughly 1:10 a.m. Sunday at Southside Pawn and Jewelry, 8101 Gravois Road.

Officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct responded and found evidence of a burglary, with a window on the west side shattered and several pieces of concrete underneath the window.

By Monday morning, an inventory of the business found that 34 guns had been stolen. Of the missing guns, 32 were semiautomatic handguns and two were semi-automatic rifles.

At least 10 suspects in at least six cars worked together during the course of the burglary, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police Department said.

It is unclear at this point in time whether the stolen guns were connected to the protests happening at the same time across St. Louis County in Ferguson, a department spokesman said. During that night of protests, windows at the Ferguson Police Department were also broken.

Police said surveillance video could be distributed as it becomes available.

The investigation is being led by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF. Anyone with information is asked to call 636-529-8210 and speak to investigators.

A previous attempt to rob another gun store in Affton along Gravois Road was unsuccessful in November 2017, with no guns actually taken from the Affton store during a wave of break-ins. That store, Triple Threat Armory, was burglarized again in May 2018, also with no guns stolen.
