To the editor:
Mr. Henrich’s response to the publisher’s September opinion column leaves much to be desired to say the least. In her column, Ms. Baker is talking about additional gun legislation, which I agree with. Mr. Henrich somehow is trying to relate gun legislation to being protected against DUI drivers. This is a reach as the two are not connected in the least bit. Perhaps a better way to look at both is this: let’s take guns and the driving wheel out of the hands of those who should not be holding them. If you’re drunk, you should not be driving. If someone has shown certain nefarious tendencies, guns should not be allowed to them.
Further in his letter, Mr. Henrich talks about the media sensationalizing gun violence. While I do agree with his opinion on that, this too has nothing to do with additional gun legislation. That issue is a whole different topic.
While I’m at it, I am in full agreement with another letter from Mary Rose Straub, who condemns The Call for publishing a full page advertisement for guns and ammo. I, too, was “disappointed and dismayed.” Good for you, Mary Rose, for pointing this out so smartly.
