Writer: All the council members should be out of jobs post-Stenger

Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

Personally I do not feel any of the County Council members should still even have a job after this latest corruption scandal, much less appoint one of them the county executive.

If they had been doing their jobs, neither former County Executives Steve Stenger nor Charlie Dooley would have ever been able to get away with pay for play. These elected officials should never be allowed to approve or select contractors.

This function belongs in the hands of professionals with independent audits of policy and procedures of all contracts.

If we don’t change the way we do business, nothing to stop County Executive Sam Page from doing the same.

In addition, all contractors found guilty of participating should be banned from government contracts.
