Woman killed in shooting in South County identified


Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead and another injured in an apartment complex in south St. Louis County.

St. Louis County police identified the victim Tuesday as Jynese King, 21, of the 5500 block of Golf Ridge Lane.

According to police, officers from the Affton Southwest precinct responded to a call for service around 2:12 p.m. Sept. 26 regarding a shooting in the 5100 block of Gold Ridge Lane in Concord. When officers arrived on the scene, they located two adult females suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. King was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim, who has not been identified, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. They were later released.

Police said the shooting is the result of an apparent “argument between familiar parties.”

The department’s Crimes Against Persons detectives are conducting the investigation.
