The St. Louis County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Monday on a subdivision proposed for Resurrection Cemetery in Affton.

The planning panel will meet for the hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, by WebEx videoconference only due to COVID-19.

Members of the public who want to attend can attend virtually through the videoconference or by phone. See instructions for joining the meeting at the end of this article.

Representing McKelvey Homes, Jim Brennan is requesting a change in zoning for 69.4 acres in Resurrection Cemetery from NU Non-Urban to R-3 residential in the R-3 10,000 square foot Residence District.

The site is at 6901 Mackenzie Road, on the west side of Mackenzie Road roughly 350 feet north of Ashbury Drive, opposite Deerwood Drive.

The developer is planning “The Preserve,” a subdivision of single-family houses at the site, which is owned by the St. Louis Archdiocese.

The land is located in the 5th County Council District of Chairwoman Lisa Clancy, D-Maplewood.

Files and plans are available for inspection at www.stlouisco.com/PLAN.

The request for the subdivision is coming through a Planned Environment Unit, or PEU, which allows the acreage of the land to be considered as a whole even if some of it can’t be developed.

McKelvey held a town hall on the subdivision in January. The plan was originally scheduled for a public hearing in April, but hearings were postponed due to COVID-19.
